Aphrodite Hills Golf Club
The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club is widely regarded as being the most dramatic course in Cyprus. Designer Cabell B Robinson has managed to use the natural landscape to create a thrilling course. The defining feature of the course is the spectacular canyon that breaks up the two main areas of play. Golfers are forced to test their nerve on the 3rd and 7th holes by driving long shots over the deep ravine to get from tee to green. If you survive the ravine shots, then you will also have to take your chances on two tricky water holes which have been designed to keep on challenging players.
The general feel of the course is one of a mature Mediterranean landscape, with indigenous carob and olive trees guarding the strategically shaped fairways. You will also have to watch out for a few historic hazards, such as the old olive press or the 18th century kiln which have both been left in situ to enhance the Cypriot feel of the course. Bermuda grass has been chosen for the fairways to help to enhance the dramatic natural landscapes, with a number of the holes doglegging through the trees.Off of the course, players can take advantage of the Golf Academy and Driving range. There is a 3-hole practice facility which allows players to practice all of their skills in an informal environment. Lessons are also available in German or English. There is a large Pro Shop onsite where it is possible to purchase international golf brands and any extras that you may have forgotten to bring with you. All players are offered the opportunity to use a buggy during their round. This makes it much easier to enjoy the dramatic landscape and get from hole to hole, especially during the hot Cypriot summer.
