Arboretum Golf Club
In the immediate vicinity of Ljubljana lies the Arboretum Golf Course. It is a nice and short course located in the middle of an impressive old forest with high and thick threes. The course was first built in 1998 with only nine holes, but later in 2003 upgraded with another nine, so that players can enjoy a full 18-hole course experience.
Arboretum is not the longest course, it measures only 5452 m from the back tee, but has a rather high difficulty level (CR 139), which ensures that players will have a fun and challenging time. Generally speaking, there is no need for longer irons, a good drive and short-to-mid iron will be enough to reach the green. Greens are smaller and can prove to be a big challenge for the average player. The golf course often hosts high level national events and is therefore in top condition most of the season.
The incredible natural habitat combined with a difficult golf course offers a unique playing experience, which is regarded as one of the finest in Slovenia. The picturesque landscape in the middle of a vast pine forest, accompanied with strategically placed lakes and large bunkers make sure that you will not get bored. Apart from that, the view of Kamniške Alps provide fresh air and stunning views.
Since its inception has the restaurant experience been an integral part of its offer. The open type restaurant with a large terrace is overlooking the 9th and 18th hole. It offers exquisite local and international cuisine, accompanied with a large wine list. It oftens becomes a vibrant place where golfers from all winds gather.
As part of the facilities is also the practice range with large pitching greens and putting greens. Some of Slovenia’s best players practice here since the conditions are ideal for a diverse practice routine. PGA professionals are knowledgeable and experience, always ready to help out.
Arboretum GC does not offer any accommodation options, but is therefore very close the Ljubljana where hotel options are abundant. Once you visit Arboretum, make sure to make time for a visit to Volčji potok, which is the most visited horticultural facility in Slovenia. Other short trips like Bled or even Portorož are also possible from here.
