Otočec Golf Club
Located in the beautiful region of Dolenjska, Golf Course Otočec is an impressive golfing and tourism facility. Built on a wast geographic area, the course sits within a lush forest on a rather hilly landscape. It’s design is open and very playable, with wide fairways, huge and undemanding greens. Otočec is one of Slovenia’s longest golf courses, surrounded by untouched nature, it’s own castle and a beautiful river Krka. Otočec Golf course was also awarded the prestigious Best Golf Course of Slovenia award several years in a row.
The course is a rather young facility, which was designed by the renowned British architect Howard Swan and Slovene architect Peter Škofic. The principal idea for the design was to make the course playable yet demanding and well knit into its local natural environment - a theme seen all around Europe.
The 18-hole golf course was built on 75 hectares with a total length of 6189 m and a par 72. The longest hole stretches over 568 meters and the course also features 49 sand traps and three water hazards. Due to its level of difficulty, distance and high quality, Otočec has hosted many important tournaments throughout the years.
The Golf Course Otočec has also a full golf academy ready for its guests. A wide and very long driving range with fantastic pitch & putt facilities is well prepared and always bustling with golfers. The golf course runs an extensive youth program, which is well known in its local community for all the efforts it makes to popularise the game of golf.
A great addition to the golf course is the local tourist environment, which has a camping ground available, many hotels and the beautiful Otočec Castle. Within the castle is also the Otočec Castle Hotel, which is a member of the prestigious association of mansions and restaurants Relais & Châteaux. It is a smaller and boutique hotel that offers nothing but pure luxury. Rooms and suites are modern but still placed within an ancient castle, which makes up for an impressive combination.
Otočec is less than one hour away from Ljubljana and also less than one hour away from Zagreb, Croatia. Make sure to visit these beautiful cities once here, but also don’t forget to explore the amazing countryside of the Dolenjska region.
