Ptuj Golf Club
Ptuj is regarded as the oldest Slovenian town and is a treasure chest filled with interesting gems to explore. The Ptuj Golf Course is located just outside the city, overlooking the beautifully preserved Ptuj Castle. The course itself has been many times awarded with the title Best Organized Golf Course in Slovenia and their greenkeeping staff is well know around Slovenia and Europe. Ptuj annually hosts the European Challenge Tour where hundreds of professional players gather and compete. The course itself is narrow and difficult, filled with unexpected traps and hazards.
The 18-hole par-72 course is kept in great shape during the whole season. Summer months make it especially difficult to play since rainfall is at its minimum and the fairways become hard. Its narrow fairways and small greens present a unique challenge to every golfer. Most players who step foot on the Ptuj golf course remember forever the 14th hole. A long par-3 played onto an island green surrounded by a huge lake. Manny balls get sunk here, scores get shattered and players get frustrated.
Ptuj is most difficult when played from the back tee, but due to its configuration quite playable from the front tees. It was designed to fit well into the local forest, hence you have giant trees shaping almost every fairway. Golf course Ptuj is relatively flat, with one exception. The 16th hole par-3 will requires you to climb up a small hill and play your tee shot down onto a large green. In any case, players are almost guaranteed to use every club in the bag.
Many of the best Slovenian players practice here, which us due to the fact that the golf course is also accompanied with a fantastic practice facility. A large driving range with a pitch & putt area will give guests the chance to practice their game and take it to the next level.
After finishing the round of golf, guests can enjoy the wonderful restaurant and bar with a large terrace, overlooking the 1st and 18th hole. Since the golf course is close to the city, guests can also enjoy a lovely evening out or head over to Terme Ptuj and dip themselves into war thermal water. The city is also close to Maribor, Zagreb, as well as Ljubljana, so there is no end to the adventures that you can take.
