Calanova Golf Club

Just 5 minutes from the sea, Calanova Golf Club is located a 30-minute driving distance from Marbella, in the golf valley behind the coastal town of La Cala de Mijas.

A relatively new golf course, designed by Julian Garcia Mayoral, Calanova is an 18-hole par-72 layout developed according to the rules and regulations of the US Golf Association. This is a hilly mountain course with some undulated greens and elevated tees, but thanks to the good shaping work, it allows for a variety of pin positions, from rather simple to very difficult ones. Calanova is a medium to high difficulty course, the 10th hole being considered the most challenging of all.

Buggy hire is included in the green fee – and highly recommended since the distance between holes is quite large. Calanova also features a driving range (30 tees), club rental, snack bar and locker rooms, as well as a club house restaurant overlooking the sea. Competitions for members and guests are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Guadalhorce Golf Club

Situated at a 30-minute driving distance from Malaga, Guadalhorce Golf Club is in the heart of beautiful Costa del Sol, known for its ideal conditions for golfing, as well as great weather. Guadalhorce is a private club but non-members can play on weekdays only by prior arrangement.

The main golf course at Guadalhorce is a long 18-hole 72-par layout, designed by Ryder Cup golfer Miguel Ángel Jiménez and split into 2 distinct parts – the first 9 holes show a typical parkland layout, while the second section has hillier fairways, more elevated greens, and tropical vegetation, making the area a bit more difficult. Overall, the main course is medium difficulty, fit for all skill levels.

There is also a 9-hole par-3 course, with smaller greens and flatter terrain, great for beginners.

Golf lessons are available, and the club provides a driving range and practice ground for putting and approach shots as well.
